New eLearning Resource – Freedom to speak up; what is speaking up?
Freedom to speak up – what is speaking up?
Speaking up is about anything that gets in the way of providing good care. When things go wrong, we need to make sure that lessons are learnt and things are improved. If we think something may go wrong it’s important that we all feel able to speak up so that potential harm is prevented. Even if things are good, but could be even better, we should feel able to say something and should expect that our suggestion is listened to and used as an opportunity for improvement. Speaking up is about all of these things.
New eLearning course available on ESR:
The first module ‘Speak Up’ is core training for all workers. Its aim is to help everyone working in health to understand what speaking up is, how to speak up and what to expect when they do. A positive speaking up culture leads to better care for patients. By making this training available to all workers, wherever they work in health, this module is to give everybody the tools and the understanding so they feel empowered to speak up and supported when they do.
