About us
Welcome to the central hub for professional growth and clinical excellence at Bradford Teaching Hospitals. We are committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, ensuring our healthcare professionals are empowered to deliver outstanding patient care while achieving their personal career ambitions.
Our post-registration education programmes are designed to support you at every stage of your journey—from your first day as a newly qualified practitioner to your transition into senior leadership.
Key Education Pillars
We provide a structured transition period for all newly registered practitioners. Our Preceptorship programme offers a supportive environment to help you translate your academic knowledge into confident clinical practice, backed by dedicated preceptors and peer support.
Our progressive professional development model allows for clear, measurable progression.
This pathway is divided into three distinct levels:
- Bronze: Moving from following rules to analytical and planned practice. Focus is on mastering core technical skills and managing routine patient situations with efficiency.
- Silver: Move from a task-based approach to a holistic, strategic unit-level view. Focus is on recognising patterns, managing unpredictable events, and leading a team through delegation and supervision.
- Gold: Transitioning from operational management to strategic leadership and service transformation. Focus is on intuitive decision-making, influencing policy, and system-level resource management.
For those looking to step into management and leadership, we offer the prestigious Mary Seacole Program. This initiative focuses on developing the practical skills needed to lead high-performing teams and drive positive change within the NHS.
To ensure our staff remain at the cutting edge of healthcare, we offer a variety of targeted short courses:
- NMC Revalidation: Specifically designed to guide nurses, nursing associates and midwives through the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, ensuring your registration remains current and your practice stays reflective.
Your Professional Journey
At Bradford Teaching Hospitals, we don’t just offer jobs; we offer careers. By integrating clinical practice with robust educational support, we ensure that our workforce is resilient, skilled, and ready to meet the evolving needs of our diverse community.
What is Preceptorship?
“A period of structured transition for the newly registered practitioner during which they will be supported by a preceptor, to develop their confidence as an autonomous professional, refine skills, values & behaviours & to continue on their journey of life-long learning”.
DH, (2010)
Who is it for?
Preceptorship is designed for newly registered practitioners (Nurses, Nursing Associates, Midwifes or AHP’s) in the first two years following registration. This includes entering the workforce for the first time, returning to work after a long period away, working in the UK for the first time, taking up a new role, or moving to a new organisation.
LaDR
The LaDR platform (Learning and Development Resources) is a digital platform designed to support the preceptorship process across healthcare and educational environments. It is designed to improve and streamline the preceptorship experience by providing a comprehensive structure for preceptors, learners, and educators to collaborate, assess, and track learning progress.
