Development Funding
This page provides information on how to apply for non-medical CPD funding within the Trust.
Before you apply
Before submitting your application, you must:
- Download and complete the CSU Authorisation Form
- Obtain approval from:
- Your Line Manager
- Your Deputy Director of Nursing (DDN) / Head of Service

Once completed and signed, this form must be uploaded as part of your application.
You must also provide evidence of the CPD activity cost, such as:
- A screenshot from a website
- A course flyer or poster
- An invoice or quote

Once you have your authorisation and supporting evidence, please complete the online application form:
How applications are reviewed
Applications are considered by the CPD Funding Panel on a monthly basis. Decisions are made in line with Trust priorities to ensure fair and appropriate use of funding.
You will be notified of the outcome by email following the panel review.
Important information
- Funding is not guaranteed
- Incomplete applications may be delayed or rejected
- CPD should not be booked until funding is confirmed
- If funding is declined after booking, costs will be the applicant’s responsibility
- Financial restrictions or approved supplier arrangements may affect funding availability
- Applications may close early if required by the Senior Leadership Team

International Nurses
International recruitment is an essential part of supporting the nursing workforce in the NHS. Here at BTHFT, we are proud to welcome the skills and knowledge that our internationally trained colleagues bring to support the diversity of the community that we serve.
The CPD team are here to provide a 6 week programme that supports and prepares internationally trained nurses for the Nursing and Midwifery Council OSCE Test of Competence.

HCA Induction
Whether new to care or new to BTHFT, all Health Care Assistants are required to attend the HCA induction. This is a comprehensive timetable offered each month, that covers all aspects of the role which supports the standards of the Care Certificate.
The CPD team deliver this programme and facilitate subject experts to deliver teaching that is evidence based and current to practice in preparation for the role of the HCA.
