What is Preceptorship?
“A period of structured transition for the newly registered practitioner during which they will be supported by a preceptor, to develop their confidence as an autonomous professional, refine skills, values & behaviours & to continue on their journey of life-long learning” (Department of Health, 2010).
We provide a structured transition period for all newly registered practitioners. Our Preceptorship programme offers a supportive environment to help you translate your academic knowledge into confident clinical practice, backed by dedicated preceptors and peer support.
Multiprofessional Preceptorship Programme
The Multiprofessional Preceptorship is a one-year programme offered by the Trust. It is designed to support newly qualified healthcare professionals as they transition into clinical practice. The programme includes opportunities to develop clinical skills, professional confidence, leadership abilities, reflective practice, and multidisciplinary collaboration, helping staff deliver safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

Who is it for?
Preceptorship is designed for newly registered practitioners (Nurses, Nursing Associates, Midwifes or AHP’s) in the first two years following registration.
This includes:
- Entering the workforce for the first time
- Returning to work after a long period away
- Working in the UK for the first time
- Taking up a new role, or
- Moving to a new organisation.
LaDR
The LaDR platform (Learning and Development Resources) is a digital platform designed to support the preceptorship process across healthcare and educational environments. It is designed to improve and streamline the preceptorship experience by providing a comprehensive structure for preceptors, learners, and educators to collaborate, assess, and track learning progress.
